Flame Meter

See where the game is growing.

Flames reflect real activity across iHOOP iNDEED—from people visiting and engaging with basketball pages to the activity earned by players, teams and leagues.

How flames are earned

Taps

One flame per visitor per day. Tapping or visiting the same page again that day doesn't add another tap flame. Who tapped is never shown.

Time spent

One flame for every 10 active minutes, up to 30 active minutes per visitor per day.

  • 10 active minutes → 1 flame
  • 20 active minutes → 2 flames
  • 30 active minutes → 3 flames
  • After 30 minutes in a day, more time adds nothing. Idle background tabs and bots don't count.

Tap and time flames are earned on league, coach, tournament and referee pages, and on the homepage. Player cards and teams earn flames from taps and card views. Each day runs on Eastern time.

How flames add up

  1. Player activity

Flame taps on a player's card, plus card-view flames.

  2. Team total

The team's own flames plus the flames of its active, claimed rostered players.

  3. League total

The league's own taps and active time plus the totals of the teams in its divisions.

  4. iHOOP iNDEED total

Each source counted once across the platform's connected leagues, teams and players.

The iHOOP iNDEED flame represents eligible flame activity across the platform's connected leagues, teams and players. Each flame is counted once at each level. A league's total is never added on top of its own teams' totals.

Example (not real activity)

One visitor taps a league page and actively views it for 25 minutes on one day. That earns one tap flame and two time flames for that league that day.

Questions

Can I create unlimited flames by refreshing?

No. A visitor gets one tap flame per item per day, and active time stops counting after 30 minutes that day. Refreshing doesn't add more.

Does leaving a page open count?

No. Time only counts while the page is on screen and you've interacted recently. Background tabs and idle pages don't count.

Do private profiles earn flames?

A private player card shows no flames to the public, and flames never make a private profile public. Youth privacy settings stay in effect.

Are flames the same as game statistics?

No. Flames measure interest and activity on iHOOP. Game statistics come only from recorded games.

Can flames be purchased?

No. Flames can't be bought by anyone: players, families, teams, leagues or sponsors.

Why did a flame total change?

New taps and active time add to totals. A total can also drop if a player leaves a team's roster, or if activity is excluded for breaking the rules.

How often are totals updated?

Totals update periodically as new activity comes in, and whenever the page loads.
